Ne cede malis
September 26th, 2009
I left my last job (as an employee) on 31st December 2007. I was being paid decent money, but not decent enough to endure the commute, the workplace and working in an area I didn’t want to work in. I was setting out to work as a freelance designer for both web and print. What I had planned, before I left my job, was a personal blog about design and print. I thought a blog would be an ideal way to learn Ruby on Rails, as I was planning on offering minor development services as well. To cut short a rambling turn of events, I registered thebleededge.com, put a RoR blog together, RoR was updated, broke my blog and I abandoned it. I abandoned it, not because I didn’t want to do it or because I didn’t know how to do it, but because I got really busy. Eighteen months later, I now run an actual company offering web design and development (goodbye print design!). I even have a blog (of sorts) on the company website, Pixelcode.
Aside from my social networking spots, I had no outlet for my personal writing. I have no interest in sharing irrelevant personal stuff, but I do work on web design, development and management stuff on a daily basis, and if I can pass on any useful information, then I will be happy. I have been helped in numerous different situations, thanks to the collective knowledge of the internet, and to keep the cycle going, I hope to contribute as well.
Also, http://www.posterous.com is really cool. I’d like to personalise my site a bit- if they don’t implement themes soon, I might just flop the RSS feed for this site onto another customised site, but hopefully themes will come soon.
Update- Customisation is actually enabled- Posterous’ FAQ is out of date.
